About Splash
Splash, aka. Betti Vom Kloster Haimbach was lovingly raised and has been exposed to a wide variety of experiences on two continents. She is a spirited and athletic lab with a passionate love of water in any form, and with an extraordinary superb nose for tracking and search and rescue, having inherited the strongest natural hunting instincts of her father. She was trained from the age of 12 weeks old under the guidance of the German Dog trainer par excellence, Ms. Elke Kauth, at the Redbone Dog School in Neustadt, Germany, where the principles of Turid Rugass and the non punitive positive reinforcement methods for guiding and training were used. Splash also trained in the Alps whereby she lost any fear to traverse over various rough terrains and for avalanche rescue. She has had courses in Tracking and has proven that she has an extraordinary nose and cooperative temperament with the enthusiasm to engage in play for search and rescue.
Besides retrieving, we always tried to give Splash the opportunities for abundant serious exercise that a Labrador requires. She traveled throughout Europe with us and also in the US, never missing a chance to be challenged by new environments, especially those provided by H2O. She was coached to climb up the mountainous terrain for avalanche rescue in the Alps. She loved skiing down the Piste with Volker in Arosa, Switzerland, where taking a dog along is allowed. Splash and hiked in the White Mountains in NH, cross country skied with us in Lake Placid, and surfed in the waves at the Outerbanks, NC or Kennebunkport, ME, Splash’s love of water took her kayaking and swimming in Acadia National Park, on the Rhine in Germany, and in the lakes of Switzerland and in the Adirondacks in New York. Her irrepressible spirit and energetic enthusiasm enthralls even us. But it has been Splash’s amazingly keen Nosework, that has impressed us the most, and that was the key motivation to breed her with the goal of producing better Labradors. She is a very intelligent, athletic and healthy Dam.
